The Loan Closet provides second-hand and new household items: kitchen ware, (pots, pans, dishes), linens (blankets, sheets and towels), irons, toasters, etc., that international students and visitors may borrow during their time at Stanford. Items are either donated by CCIS volunteers, or are purchased using the rental fees.
A $10 fee for individuals or a $20 for two or more people in one household is required. The items must be returned at the end of one's time at Stanford.
The Loan Closet program, begun more than 50 years ago, is run by CCIS volunteers who help about 250 people each year. It is located in the basement of Abrams in Escondido Village. Appointments are required and are available during the two weeks of Fall Orientation. Call CCIS or the International Center for contact numbers at other times during the year.
