This program offers an opportunity for international graduate students to
stay with a local Host Family or Host Individual for 3 to 5 days upon
arrival at Stanford and before moving on to campus. It affords students the
opportunity to develop informal friendships with their Host away from the University's academic life.
Over the years many lifetime international friendships have developed through the CCIS Homestay Program. Most often the relationship continues throughout the student's stay at Stanford and beyond.
This is a volunteer program hosted by local residents. There is no fee
charged. CCIS Homestay Host volunteers come from a wide range of cultures,
educational backgrounds, professions, interests and talents. This program
is meant to enhance your Stanford/California experience on a more personal
level and to share your life and country with your Host.
Applications to apply for the CCIS Homestay Program are initially sent out in a large mailing from the Bechtel International Center soon after your acceptance to Stanford, or around early to mid-June. If you go to <link goes here> it will give you the information and the application.
We accept applications up to July 31st (and occasionally a bit later). You will then hear from the Homestay Chairperson around mid-August with information about your Host and their contact info.
