HOMESTAY APPLICATION INFORMATION 2007
Please review the following application guidelines and information regarding the CCIS Homestay program prior to filling out the form.
General guidelines for applying to the CCIS Homestay program:
- Homestay is only for new international graduate students who (a) have not been in the U.S. previously (b) are not participating in other local summer or Homestay programs, such as the Stanford summer programs in intensive English and (c) are not planning to stay with friends or relatives in the area. Please do not attempt to use it for temporary housing.
- Homestay is offered to single students or couples without children for a maximum of 5 days and nights. For families with children a 3-day maximum Homestay is offered. Homestays are usually available for 5 days prior to when the University residences are available and will begin on the scheduled day of your arrival in the U.S. On occasion, earlier arrivals (even as early as August) can be accommodated, but duration of stay remains a maximum of 5 days.
- Homestay is very popular, so we encourage students who have a genuine interest in the program to apply soon. It is intended to help students get familiar with the basics of life in the U.S and to provide the students with some friends in the community. A last minute cancellation not only disappoints the host family but also prevents another student from participating.
- Criterion for placement is based primarily, but not entirely, on the order in which the application is received. For this reason do not wait till the deadline to apply.
