Homestay

Local families volunteer to open their homes to welcome incoming international graduate students (some including families with children) for a 3-5 day stay prior to moving into their University residences. The host families help the students make the transition to life in the US, and many lifelong friendships have been built from this experience. Homestay is one of CCIS' oldest and most popular programs, dating back to 1953 and hosting hundreds of students from around the world since that time. Students applying for Homestay are matched with participating families in early to mid-August before students arrive for the start of fall classes.

If you have a genuine interest in participating in the Homestay program, we encourage you to apply soon, as this is a very popular, rewarding and enriching program. We realize that there are many student groups on campus that may be contacting you. If you do request this Homestay program, we ask that you follow through with your family and not make other arrangements with one of those groups at the last minute.

Please contact the Homestay chairperson with questions or to email your application at any time: (Homestay@CCISstanfordU.org).
